’28 Years Later’ Poster Delivers An Ominous Message

It’s been a long time coming, but 28 Years Later is a real thing that’s happening. Just in case there was any doubt, Sony Pictures has dropped the first teaser poster for Danny Boyle’s long-awaited sequel, with the ominous tagline “Time Didn’t Heal Anything”.

The image bears a striking resemblance to earlier posters for 2002’s 28 Days Later and 2007’s 28 Weeks Later. The film serves as a sequel to both films, with the deadly Rage Virus returning to again infect what’s left of humanity.

Jodie Comer leads the cast, joined by Ralph Fiennes, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jack O’Connell, Erin Kellyman, Edvin Ryding, and Cillian Murphy who reprises his role as Jim, a survivor of the first movie. It’s unclear just how big Murphy’s role will be, however.

Boyle directs from a script he co-wrote with Alex Garland. 28 Years Later opens on June 20th 2025 and is the first part of a new trilogy, with the opening two films shot back-to-back.
