‘The Bad Guys 2′ Trailer: Dreamworks’ Reformed Animal Villains Face A Much Badder Crew

Joining the Dreamworks Animation pantheon along with How to Train Your Dragon, Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, and others, The Bad Guys was an unexpected $250M hit for the studio in 2022. That all but guaranteed we’d see the animal criminals on the big screen again soon, and now today we have the first trailer for The Bad Guys 2 which arrives in 2025.

Pierre Perifel returns to direct The Bad Guys 2 with the help of co-director JP Sans, and they’re joined by returning voice cast Sam Rockwell as Mr. Wolf, Marc Maron Mr. Snake, Craig Robinson as Mr. Shark, Anthony Ramos as Mr. Piranha, and Awkwafina as Ms. Tarantula nicknamed “Webs.” Also coming back are Zazie Beetz as Diane Foxington aka The Crimson Paw, Richard Ayoade as Professor Marmalade, Lily Singh as reporter Tiffany Fluffit, and Alex Borstein as Police Chief Misty Luggins.

The returning cast is joined by three new additions. Oscar nominee Danielle Brooks voices Kitty Kat, leader of the Bad Girls, Oscar nominee Maria Bakalova as Pigtail, and Natasha Lyonne as Doom.

In the first movie, the talking anthropomorphic animal villains attempted to do good and change the way the world perceived them. The sequel finds them fully reformed but dragged back into criminality by an even worse group.

SYNOPSIS: In the new action-packed chapter from DreamWorks Animation’s acclaimed comedy smash about a crackerjack crew of animal outlaws, our now-reformed Bad Guys are trying (very, very hard) to be good, but instead find themselves hijacked into a high-stakes, globe-trotting heist, masterminded by a new team of criminals they never saw coming: The Bad Girls.

The Bad Guys 2 hits theaters on August 2nd 2025.
