Last year I had the chance to talk with one of my favorite action directors, Dimitri Logothetis, about his upcoming flick, Gunner. And now today we are learning that Gunner, which stars Luke Hemsworth and Morgan Freeman, will finally be released next month.
Directed by Logothetis and written by Gary Scott Thompson (The Fast and the Furious), Gunner centers on an ex-Special Forces officer whose children are kidnapped by violent drug traffickers. Putting his special skills to the test, he sets out on a mission to bring his family home safely.
Also in the cast are Mykel Shannon Jenkins, Yulia Klass, Grant Feely, Connor DeWolfe.
Logothetis has crafted some of the best action flicks of recent years, including Kickboxer: Retaliation and Jiu Jitsu. His films tend to resemble the macho genre flicks of the ’80s and ’90s, and Gunner fits into that mold nicely. This one is right up my alley.
Gunner will be available digitally on December 9th from Vertigo Releasing.
SYNOPSIS: When ruthless drug traffickers kidnap his children, ex-special forces operative Lee Gunner embarks on a violent life-or-death mission. With his unique skills and nothing to lose, he’ll take on an army to bring his family home.
