Box Office: ‘Venom 3′ Retains the Top Spot While Tom Hanks’ ‘Here’ Barely Cracks the Top 5

  1. Venom: The Last Dance – $26.1M/$90M

Tom Hardy’s (possible) last turn as Eddie Brock may not have blown the box office away stateside but it’s solid numbers coupled with a significant international take should put the Lethal Protector as a three-time winner when all is said and done. While the competition wasn’t fierce, winning the box office two weeks in a row is nothing to laugh at either.

2.The Wild Robot- $7.5M/$121.4M

Sporting a somewhat rare accolade Universal’s The Wild Robot actually managed to increase it’s box office numbers in its sixth week of release. It’s 10.6% rise in numbers from last week allowed the animated hit the silver medal.

3. Smile 2– $6.8M/$52.6M

4. Conclave – $5.3M/$15.2

5. Here (review)– $5M

It’s a bit shocking to see a Robert Zemeckis movie underperform like this. Especially shocking when that movie stars Tom Hanks and even more so when said movie functions as the reunion for Forrest and Jenny, with Robin Wright co-starring. All that wasn’t enough to overcome bad word of mouth and worse reviews leading to a paltry $5M take for the generation spanning film.

6. We Live In Time – $3.4M/$17.6M

7. Terrifier 3– $3.2M/$50.5M

With Halloween in the rearview I think it’s safe to say Art the Clown is on his way out of the top 10. He can do so with his head held high, with a budget of only $20M it’s $50.5M earnings will put this film on the list of most profitable movies of 2024.

8. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 – $2.2M

I’ve never been a big Bollywood guy but I feel confident in saying that the films coming out of India have some of the most intriguing plot synopsis I’ve ever seen. Take this week’s release, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 whose plot summary has me a click away from going to Fandango and finding a theater that’s playing the film:

Ruhaan, a fraudster posing as an exorcist, takes on a lucrative case at a haunted castle, unraveling a sinister plot involving mischievous priests, culminating in a hilarious yet thrilling ride filled with unexpected twists and scares.

Apparently I’m not the only one either. The flick may be at #8 but, going by the per theater average, its earnings really put it at #2 with $2900 per theater.

9. Singham Again– $2.1M

The second entry from India in this week’s top 10. Hollywood better get its stuff together, they are clearly saying “If you don’t want to make films people will go to the theater for, we will!”

10. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice– $2M/$292.9M
