‘Back In Action’ Trailer: Cameron Diaz Reteams With Jamie Foxx For Her First Role In A Decade

Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz are great friends, and have been since they met while shooting Annie in 2014. She retired from acting shortly after that, and hasn’t been seen in anything since. There was only one person who could get Diaz back in front of a camera, and that’s Foxx, who convinced her to join him in the action-comedy Back in Action. An apt title, right?

As seen in the new trailer, Back in Action stars Foxx and Diaz as a married couple whose past comes back to haunt them, and they must reveal to their children that they used to be CIA spies.

It kinda feels like this premise has been done to death, right? Isn’t this exactly what The Family Plan is about?

The film was directed and co-written by Seth Gordon, who is best known for The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters, Baywatch, and Horrible Bosses.

Joining Foxx and Diaz in the cast are Glenn Close, Kyle Chandler, Andrew Scott, and Jamie Demetriou.

This film has a lot of attention on it for obvious reasons. It’s Diaz’s first role since 2014, a year that saw her star in Annie, The Other Woman, and Sex Tape, all big box office hits. Diaz left when she was at the top of the comedy heap, and that puts a lot of pressure on her return.  Also, this is the first major action role for Foxx since his health issues. While he did shoot most of his scenes beforehand, body doubles were used for additional scenes.

Back in Action hits Netflix on January 17th 2025.
