Since her Cannes award-winning performance in The Worst Person in the World, Renate Reinsve has been everywhere and she isn’t slowing down soon. The breakout Norwegian actress will be seen next in Armand, Norway’s Selection for the Academy Awards Best International Feature Film and winner of the Camera d’Or award at Cannes earlier this year.
The film was written and directed by Halfdan Ullmann Tøndel in his feature debut. Tøndel is the grandson of the grandson of Liv Ullmann and Ingmar Bergman, so filmmaking runs through his veins. He and Reinsve previously worked together on a short film in 2016.
Here is the synopsis: When defamed actress Elisabeth (Renate Reinsve) is abruptly called into a parent-teacher meeting after hours, she is presented with scathing allegations that trigger a tangled web of accusations between parents and faculty. As Elisabeth struggles to uncover the truth amid the empty school rooms and dark corridors, a chaotic fight for redemption arises where desire, madness and obsession prevail.
Also in the cast are Ellen Dorrit Petersen, Thea Lambrechts Vaulen, Endre Hellestveit, Øystein Røger, and Vera Veljovic.
As previously mentioned, Reinsve has been busy with roles in horror drama Handling the Undead, Apple series Presumed Innocent, and her American film debut A Different Man.
Armand opens in New York on November 29th for an awards qualifying run. It then opens theatrically in select theaters on February 7th 2025, with a wide release a week later from IFC Films.
