The critical success of Andor has to be somewhat confounding for Lucasfilm. Here is a show with no obvious connection to the Dave Filoni-verse (The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, etc.), and is a prequel to a spinoff, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. And yet it received arguably the best reviews of any Star Wars series, with many eager for the show’s return for season two. Well, now we know when that will be.
As announced over the weekend at D23 Brazil, Andor season two hits Disney+ on April 22nd 2026. Diego Luna returns as Cassian Andor, the ex-thief who puts his skills to use as a Rebel spy, battling the Empire.
And this second season is looking to be a whopper, with it actually covering four years in Andor’s life. Every three episodes will represent the passage of one year, leading up the events seen in Rogue One.
Tony Gilroy is back as showrunner and writer on the first three-episode arc. He’s joined by Beau Willimon, Dan Gilroy, and Tom Bissell. Giloy is the guy who stepped in on Rogue One during post-production and got that film back on track, producing what I still think is the best recent Star Wars movie.
