In what is turning out to be a follow-up to our earlier story about Rachel McAdams joining the cast of Sam Raimi’s film Send Help, scooper Jeff Sneider now says that Raimi will return to Marvel for Doctor Strange 3. Raimi directed Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in 2022, replacing Scott Derrickson, and has been rumored to return to Marvel sometime in the future. It looks like he could be coming back in the most obvious way, continuing the storyline that he left wide open and in need of a conclusion.
Sneider’s report says “I’m told that Raimi is definitely coming back, which is no surprise as he really seemed to enjoy working with Marvel, as opposed to other filmmakers who have struggled to adapt to the studio’s process.“
Well, that’s because they let Raimi bring in a lot of dark humor and horror aspects into the film. You don’t bring in Sam Raimi and not let him make the movie he wants to make.
Sneider added that Send Help is “is gearing up to start in January before Raimi and McAdams return to the MCU for Doctor Strange 3.”
Doctor Strange hasn’t been seen in the MCU since ‘Madness’, which concluded with him gaining a third eye after using the evil Darkhold too much and dreamwalking into a corpse, becoming a zombie. He then joined with Clea (Charlize Theron) to enter the Dark Dimension to stop an incursion caused by his actions.
We’ll see if these rumors are true, but would you be excited to see Raimi return to Marvel?
