I have to admit, I had to think about what Clint Eastwood’s last movie was as director. It was 2021’s charming but forgettable neo-Western drama Cry Macho, which stalled at the box office despite having Eastwood in front of the camera. His movies can’t always be counted on to be successful (Sully and American Sniper were his last true hits), but Eastwood can be relied on to deliver a solid effort with strong performances at a modest budget. And at the age of 94, Eastwood is back with courtroom thriller Juror #2, starring Nicholas Hoult.
Directed by Eastwood and penned by Jonathan Abrams (Escape Plan), Juror #2 stars Hoult as a man on jury duty for a murder case who begins to realize that he might be responsible for the death, and not the person on trial. What does he do? Speak up, or sit quietly and let the justice system play out?
The film stars Toni Collette, J.K. Simmons, Chris Messina, Gabriel Basso, Zoey Deutch, Cedric Yarbrough, Leslie Bibb, Kiefer Sutherland, Amy Aquino, and Adrienne C. Moore, so a great cast all around. Eastwood has never had a problem in that department.
Juror #2 opens in theaters on November 1st.
SYNOPSIS: “Juror #2” follows family man Justin Kemp (Hoult) who, while serving as a juror in a high profile murder trial, finds himself struggling with a serious moral dilemma…one he could use to sway the jury verdict and potentially convict—or free—the accused killer.
