Disney already had a jam-packed 2025, and today it just got a lot busier. The Mouse House has set dates for two of its most anticipated films for next year, both nostalgia projects that they hope will find brand new audiences.
First up, Disney has set a May 23rd 2025 date for their live-action Lilo & Stitch movie. A remake of the beloved 2002 movie about a young girl and her friendship with a cute blue alien, the film features Maia Kealoha, Zach Galifianakis, Sydney Agudong, Billy Magnussen, Courtney B. Vance, and original cast members Tia Carrere, Amy Hill, and Jason Scott Lee, with Chris Sanders returning as the voice of Stitch. Dean Fleischer Camp (Marcel the Shell with Shoes On) takes over as director. Currently, its going to face some stiff competition from Tom Cruise and the next Mission: Impossible sequel. We’ll see if somebody moves off that date.
Next up, Disney has set the Jamie Lee Curtis/Lindsay Lohan sequel Freakier Friday for August 8th 2025. Nisha Ganatra directs the body-swapping comedy, with much of the supporting cast from the 2003 comedy also coming back including Chad Michael Murray, Mark Harmon, Christina Vidal Michell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Toblowsky, and Rosalind Chao. As of right now, it’s set to square off against Paul Thomas Anderson’s mystery film. [Deadline]
