Jeymes Samuel Shoots Down Rumors He’ll Direct ‘Blade’ For Marvel

It’s a damn shame that the latest update on Marvel’s long-troubled Blade film is about something cool that isn’t happening with it. In recent days there have been rumors The Harder They Fall and The Book of Clarence director Jeymes Samuel was taking over the film, but he has taken to social media to shoot down those stories. Again, it’s a damn shame.

First announced in 2019, Blade has been a trouble spot for Marvel ever since. Star Mahershala Ali has been attached from the beginning, but it’s starting to look increasingly unlikely that he’ll stick around. The film has already lost directors Bassam Tariq and Yann Demange, along with a bunch of cast members including Aaron Pierre, Delroy Lindo, and Mia Goth. Multiple writers have also taken a crack at the script, making changes that have only made matters worse in some cases.

Unfortunately, Blade is still without a director and probably years away from happening if it’ll ever happen at all. Even if it does, there’s no guarantee Ali will be involved. Maybe just hand the whole thing to Wesley Snipes and be done with it.

As for Samuel, he’s been teasing a sequel to his hit Western, The Harder They Fall, but it’s not been made official.
