DC Villains Bane And Deathstroke Are Getting A Movie From ‘Captain America’ Writer Matthew Orton

During the Zack Snyder era of the DCEU, fans only got a taste of what would be for the villain Deathstroke, who appeared in the Snyder Cut of Justice League. The back-breaking Bat-villain Bane has had his moments to shine on the big screen in 1997’s Batman & Robin, then again in The Dark Knight Rises. But James Gunn is looking to give both baddies a greater spotlight in the DCU with a new movie.

Deadline reports that Matthew Orton has been tasked with writing a new DCU film involving Deathstroke and Bane. No further details are available. Will they be the focus of this movie? Or just the villains a hero is forced to battle? If it’s the former, could we be looking at the formation of an antihero team similar to the Suicide Squad? Or perhaps the popular DC Comics team the Secret Six?

No director is attached at this point. Orton is familiar with the world of superheroes, having worked on the Captain America: Brave New World screenplay. He also penned the historical action film Operation Finale, which happens to be about a real-life clandestine team. It could be that Orton is just the right guy for this job.

James Gunn and Peter Safran are aboard as producers through the DC Studios banner. It’s worth noting that Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy pal Dave Bautista has been lobbying to play Bane for years. Who would you like to see play Deathstroke and Bane this time around?
