With roles in Black Adam, Hidden Figures, and The Invisible Man, Aldis Hodge has quietly become a fan-favorite. I feel like he’s long overdue for a sudden breakout, and the Prime Video series Cross could do for him what Reacher did for Alan Ritchson. I can’t wait for this one.
Cross is based on the bestselling James Patterson novels centered on Alex Cross, the dogged DC police detective and forensic psychologist who specializes in getting into the minds of killers. The character has been played previously by Morgan Freeman in Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider, then by Tyler Perry in the forgettable Alex Cross film in 2012.
Hodge stars in the series alongside Isaiah Mustafa, Juanita Jennings, Alona Tal, Samantha Walkes, Caleb Elijah, Melody Hurd, Jennifer Wigmore, Eloise Mumford, and Ryan Eggold. Jeanine Mason, Wes Chatham, and Matthew Lillard will appear in season two, which has already been green-lit. Ben Watkins creates the series and acts as the showrunner.
SYNOPSIS: Alex Cross is a detective and forensic psychologist, uniquely capable of digging into the psyches of killers and their victims, in order to identify—and ultimately capture—the murderers.
Cross hits Prime Video on November 14th.
