‘Allswell In New York’ Trailer: ‘The Bear’ Star Liza Colon-Zayas, Elizabeth Rodriguez, & Daphne Rubin-Vega In Nuyorican Dramedy

The Bear season 4? It’s a long way off. But for fans of the show and recent Emmy winner Liza Colon-Zayas, there’s the new dramedy Allswell in New York. Featuring Colon-Zayas and other great Puerto Rican actresses Elizabeth Rodriguez (Orange is the New Black), and Daphne Rubin-Vega (In The Heights), the film was also written by the trio based on their real-world experiences.

Director Ben Snyder said in a statement, “We just knew we needed to make a movie together. These are friendships that span decades. We would gather in apartments, restaurants, wherever we could find space to tell stories. What emerged was a mashup of inspiration from people and places and lives that touched us; chosen family — which in real life we are. I know it’s the most cliche thing to say, but this is a love letter to our city; I mean show me a realer New Yorker than Elizabeth, Liza, or Daphne — I dare you! We are thrilled to share this with the world.”

Here’s the brief synopsis: Three Nuyorican sisters navigate the daunting life challenges of single motherhood, career, and family, all while finding humor and solace within the bond of sisterhood.

Also in the cast are Bobby Cannavale, Felix Solis, Max Casella, Michael Rispoli, Shyrley Rodriguez, MacKenzie Lansing, and J. Cameron Barnett.

The film premiered at Tribeca in 2022 and was well-received, winning the award for Best Screenplay. It’s taken a while, but good to see this film finally hitting theaters.

Allswell in New York opens in theaters on October 18th, followed by digital on November 15th.
