I have not been shy about proclaiming my love for Shudder. They are doing the Lord’s (or I guess, the guy downstairs) work for horror fans everywhere. One of my favorite byproducts of their success has been the annualization of the V/H/S franchise. The latest installment V/H/S/Beyond looks to continue the upward trajectory set by last years V/H/S ’85 and hopefully lands near the pinnacle achieved by V/H/S 2.
The teaser, which was released today by Shudder, gives only glimpses of it’s installments but it’s enough to discern that they are sticking with the formula that seems to have worked so far. Tales spanning the sub-genres of horror all shown from the found footage vantage point. What looks to be an Indonesian tale of cyber-body horror, a cult, aliens, and …well a segment about people falling out of a plane. Not sure where the last one fits but I definitely feel that tingle of anticipation watching these quick shots.
I’ll tell you this, the talent they are starting to pull for these is impressive. This years has segments from Kate Siegel, Mike Flanagan, Justin Long, and more.
Damn, October can’t get here quickly enough…it’s HORROR TIME BABY!!!!
