‘The Monkey’: Theo James Gets Bloody In Cursed Toy Horror From ‘Longlegs’ Director Osgood Perkins

NEON is loving being in the Oz Perkins business following the success of Longlegs. One of the buzziest titles of the year, it’s rapidly creeping up on $100M at the box office. And before the dust has settled on that one, Perkins has a teaser for his next horror, The Monkey.

Based on the Stephen King short story from 1980, The Monkey features Theo James in a dual role as twin brothers who witness a string of deaths caused by a cursed monkey toy. Years later when the murders resurface, the brothers reunite to end the toy once and for all.

The footage doesn’t reveal much, but this is definitely one freaky-looking monkey toy that is sure to cause some chills. We do see James covered in blood and appearing to have witnessed something horrible. Or something furry. Those teeth alone are enough to creep me out.

Also in the cast are Tatiana Maslany, Elijah Wood, Christian Convery, Colin O’Brien, Rohan Campbell, and Sarah Levy. Perkins wrote the screenplay as well as directed. James Wan is aboard as a producer. The combo of Perkins and Wan should lead to something special for genre fans.

The Monkey opens in theaters on February 21st 2025.
