Paul Reiser And Colm Meaney Squabble On The Emerald Isle In TheTrailer for ‘The Problem With People’

In the upcoming Paul Reiser film, The Problem With People, the trailer for which you can see below, Ciaran (Colm Meaney) tries to fix an age-old family squabble to fulfill his father’s dying wish. Ciaran finds Barry, his distant US cousin  and persuades him to come to Ireland to rekindle the family bond. You can probably guess how it goes when, once Ciaran’s father dies, it’s revealed that he left half of everything to Barry.

There’s a definite trend of using the beauty of Ireland as backdrop for mid-budget films. At first it was mostly rom-com’s, and a few genuine romantic drama’s, but in recent years that has expanded to comedy and even horror in some cases. Who can blame them? My ancestral homeland is nothing if not breathtakingly beautiful. That being said, I don’t think that’s all there is to it. There’s one other aspect of Ireland that’s always featured which takes center stage in this trailer. It’s people. I think there’s something global about the pub culture and family squabbles taht you can always find in the background of these films.

Whatever it is, I hold big love for both Reiser and Colm Meaney, who’s been one of the best/biggest character actors of the last 20 years. Sharp, witty, I’m sure touching, and with the beauty of Eire filling the background? I’ll see you at the theater!
