Seeing Peter Dinklage listed as a lead in the upcoming Tubi original film The Thicket I immediately assumed it was a drama…the man is a fiercely talented dramatic actor after all. I would not have guessed he would be starring as the leader of a group of bounty hunters tracking a vicious killer across, what appears to be, 1800s Canada/Northern US. Yet that’s exactly what this is.
Western’s are a strange genre, they were everywhere in the 60s but have all but died off since. Every 8 years or so we’ll see a run of them hit, seems we are in one of those runs now. While it’s usually not my genre of choice Dinklage’s inclusion, coupled with the obvious sharply written script displayed in the trailer have caught my interest. Add in Juliette Lewis as the unhinged serial killer that Dinklage’s posse is tracking and you may have guaranteed my ticket sale.
Strange though that Tubi, a streaming service, is debuting their highest profile original film in theaters…
