‘Flight Risk’ Trailer: Mark Wahlberg And Michelle Dockery Star In Mel Gibson’s Sky High Thriller

Tough to believe that eight years have passed since Mel Gibson directed Hacksaw Ridge, the acclaimed war movie that had six Oscar nominations and two wins. Gibson remains a risky prospect around Hollywood due to his past anti-semitic and sexist comments, but it hasn’t actually stopped him from doing whatever he wants. That includes Flight Risk, a new thriller film that Gibson directs and arrives in theaters this October.

Flight Risk stars Mark Wahlberg as a pilot transporting a federal Air Marshal who is accompanying a fugitive to trial. Stuck in the tight confines of the plane, tensions rise between them when it becomes clear that someone isn’t who they appear to be. Unfortunately, I think this trailer gives too much away when it could’ve been marketed a completely different way.

Downton Abbey‘s Michelle Dockery plays the Air Marshal, with That ’70s Show‘s Topher Grace as the criminal. A small cast for this one, which could be awesome if the paranoia gets ratcheted up to an unbearable level. That will depend on the screenplay by Jared Rosenberg. Gibson not only directs but is a producer, as well.

SYNOPSIS: In this high-stakes suspense thriller, Academy Award nominee Mark Wahlberg (Actor in a Supporting Role, 2006 – The Departed) plays a pilot transporting an Air Marshal (Michelle Dockery) accompanying a fugitive (Topher Grace) to trial. As they cross the Alaskan wilderness, tensions soar and trust is tested, as not everyone on board is who they seem.

Flight Risk opens in theaters on October 18th.
