‘Badlands’: It’s The Predator Vs. Elle Fanning In New Spinoff Film

The foes taking on Predator are looking less and less like Arnold Schwarzenegger. Following the surprise hit Prey, we learned that another film in the franchise, titled Badlands, was in the works. And now we know this one will also feature a female lead: Elle Fanning.

Deadline reports that Elle Fanning will star in the next Predator spinoff movie, Badlands. Similar to Prey, this will be a standalone effort disconnected from any prior films. However, there is a sequel to Prey on the way and it could see the return of star Amber Midthunder.

Dan Trachtenberg will return to direct and co-write Badlands with Patrick Aison. The duo has basically been handed the keys to the Predator franchise, so it will be interesting to see where they take it over the long haul.

We still don’t know what the plot of Badlands will be, but the title suggests an Old West setting. Gunslinger Elle Fanning?

It’s been a quiet few years for Fanning after it seemed like she was everywhere for a while. Her last starring role was in 2020’s All the Bright Places. She does have James Mangold’s A Complete Unknown, about Bob Dylan’s switch to electric amplification, coming up.
