‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ Close To Adding Sci-Fi Legend Sigourney Weaver

The Mandalorian & Grogu is looking to add its first cast member who wasn’t part of the Disney+ series. And what do you know? It’s a true legend of the genre. The InSneider was first to report that Alien and Aliens icon Sigourney Weaver is in talks to become part of the Star Wars universe, joining the movie set to arrive on May 22nd 2026.

Weaver’s role is unclear right now, but she could be anyone. The Ghostbusters and Avatar actress has done it all in her career. Maybe she’ll be a Jedi Knight? Or a believer in the Dark Side of the Force? More likely Weaver will play someone in the Republic, like a senator or something boring like that. I hope that’s not the case, but it seems to fit. I kinda like the idea of her as a veteran bounty hunter.

Pedro Pascal is returning to the role of Din Djarin, who will be traveling the spaceways while watching over Grogu, the little green Yoda-like creature who has become Star Wars‘ unofficial mascot. Jon Favreau will write and direct the film, as he did many episodes of The Mandalorian. With production expected to begin later this year, we should learn something soon.
