Update: ‘The Room Next Door’: Anya Taylor-Joy Is Not Cast In Pedro Almodóvar’s Next Film

*UPDATE*: Reps from Sony Pictures Classics confirm that Anya Taylor-Joy has not been cast in The Room Next Door. The listing guide that included her was an error. Hopefully a full cast list will be revealed soon.

The original story is below.

A busy year for Anya Taylor-Joy may have just gotten busier. According to a CinemaCon guide discovered by The Film Stage, Taylor-Joy has joined The Room Next Door, Pedro Almodovar’s English-language film that already boasts the talents of leading ladies Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton.

There have been rumblings that Taylor-Joy might join the cast for a while, and although this report doesn’t count as a confirmation it’s pretty close to it. I wouldn’t be surprised if Sony Pictures Classics drops a full cast list very soon, just to clear up any confusion and to put some shine on a film that already sounds like a potential Oscar contender.

Here’s a synopsis for The Room Next Door: “The story of ‘The Room Next Door’ follows a very imperfect mother and a resentful daughter separated by a great misunderstanding. Among them, another woman, Ingrid (played by Julianne Moore), a friend of the mother’s, is the repository of their pain and bitterness. Martha, the mother (Tilda Swinton), is a war reporter, and Ingrid is an autofiction novelist.”

Taylor-Joy can be seen right now in the blockbuster Dune: Part Two, and has another, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, coming up in May.
