Movies about Saturday Night Live are suddenly hot. SNL 1975 will explore the first season of the legendary sketch comedy, and now Deadline reports The Chris Farley Show is in the works, a biopic that will star Paul Walter Hauser as the fan-favorite comedian.
Interestingly, the film would also mark the directorial debut of Josh Gad, who probably at one point would’ve been up for the role of Farley himself. He’ll be working from a script by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, the duo behind The Fault In Our Stars, The Spectacular Now, and more.
SNL creator Lorne Michael is backing the project as a producer, the same with the Farley family. The film is adapted from the 2009 biography by Farley’s brother, Tom Farley Jr., and Tanner Colby.
Hauser, who has kinda been splitting time between acting and pro wrestling of late, is known for his roles in I, Tonya, Da 5 Bloods, and Richard Jewell. This would probably be the biggest role of his career, though, depending on what Gad brings to the table as a director.
