‘Robot Dreams’ Trailer: NEON’s Oscar-Nominated Animated Film Hits Theaters Next Month

The Oscars season is over, but for many moviegoers there is still one nominated movie they’ve yet to have a chance to see. NEON will release Robot Dreams, a nominee for Best Animated Feature, into theaters next month, offering a look at writer/director Pablo Berger’s acclaimed film about the unique relationship between a Dog and his Robot companion in 1984 Manhattan.

Here’s the synopsis: Dog lives in Manhattan, and he’s tired of being alone. One day, he decides to build himself a robot and a companion. Their friendship blossoms until they become inseparable, to the rhythm of 80’s NYC. One summer night, DOG, with great sadness, is forced to abandon ROBOT at the beach.

If you’re wondering who the A-list voice cast are, well, there isn’t any. The film features no dialogue at all, but as you can see in the trailer it doesn’t diminish the emotional impact.

Robot Dreams opens in theaters on May 31st.
