With the arrival of CinemaCon today, you can expect a flurry of news on some big projects. But Disney has already gotten out of the gate with announcements on films that fans have been waiting for. The biggest of them all is Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian and Grogu, which has been dated for May 22nd 2026. That’ll make it the first Star Wars feature since The Rise of Skywalker in 2019 and the first to open in May since Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Lucasfilm will be dropping two Star Wars movies in 2026, as there’s another untitled one set for December 18th. That is probably Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s Rey Skywalker film with Daisy Ridley.
Surprising nobody, Disney confirmed that Toy Story 5 would arrive on June 19th 2026. Disney CEO Bob Iger had been talking up the Pixar sequel since last February, as part of a concerted effort to put focus on established brands to help right the course.
Finally, the live-action Moana has been moved from June 27th 2025 to July 10th 2026. The reason isn’t given, but it could have something to do with the animated Moana sequel arriving later this year.
