‘The Crow’ Trailer: Bill Skarsgård Is A Gothic Spirit Of Vengeance In Bloody Remake Arriving This Summer

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; I’ll believe The Crow is real only when I’m in the theater and the credits are rolling. To say that it’s been a long, winding road to get this adaptation of James O’Barr’s comic going would be an understatement, and I could spend all day typing out the number of filmmakers and actors (Mark Wahlberg and Jason Momoa among them!) who have been part of earlier versions. But we’re here now with Lionsgate promising us that The Crow will arrive this summer with Bill Skarsgard as the spirit of vengeance. Okay, fine then.

The first image of Skarsgaard as Eric Draven aka The Crow was met with…well, let’s just say it wasn’t universal support. He kinda looks like the long-lost brother of Jared Leto’s Joker. We finally get to see him in action in the brand new trailer, and I think he actually looks better in-motion than in still photography.

Behind the camera is Rupert Sanders (Ghost in the Shell), with the cast including FKA Twigs, Isabella Wei, Danny Huston, Laura Birn, Sami Bouajila, and Jordan Bolger.

Here’s the synopsis: Soulmates Eric Draven (Skarsgård) and Shelly Webster (FKA twigs) are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right.

The Crow opens in theaters on June 7th.
