‘Freaky Friday 2’ Is A Go With New Director Named, Lindsay Lohan & Jamie Lee Curtis In Talks

One good Lindsay Lohan revival deserves another. Following the Mean Girls remake earlier this year, and its cameo appearance by Lohan, Disney has decided it’s time to make Freaky Friday 2 happen. THR reports that Nisha Ganatra has been tapped to direct the sequel to the 2003 body-swapping comedy that starred Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis.

As for the movie’s original stars, Lohan and Curtis are in talks to return for the sequel as the mother and daughter who magically swap bodies and lives.

Curtis couldn’t wait to share the news, posting a photo on IG of herself alongside Lohan.

Ganatra recently directed episodes of the Hulu miniseries Welcome to Chippendales.

The new Freaky Friday will find Curtis and Lohan at very different stages of life than they were twenty years ago. Jordan Weiss’ screenplay will take a “multigenerational” approach to the story, which to me sounds like Lohan’s character will have a daughter, and all three women will swap lives for maximum comic chaos.

If all goes as planned, filming on Freaky Friday 2 will begin this summer.
