Under any other circumstance, the crime thriller Blood for Dust might’ve been something I would overlook. But then it goes and casts not one, not two, but many of my favorite actors so that I kinda have to look forward to it, even if it also appears pretty generic. The film stars Kit Harington and Scoot McNairy as old friends lured into a life of crime. Also in the cast are Blade actor Stephen Dorff, plus Mallrats‘ Ethan Suplee, and Brick actress Nora Zehetner. Again, it’s like they dialed me up and asked who I wanted to be in the movie.
Directed by Rod Blackhurst (his short film Night Swim was recently adapted into a Blumhouse feature), Blood for Dust had its world premiere at Tribeca, and will be released by The Avenue into theaters and digital platforms on April 19th.
Also in the cast are Josh Lucas and Amber Rose Mason.
Here’s the synopsis: Cliff (Scoot McNairy), a former salesman with a checkered past, is pulled back into a life of crime after losing his job. Desperate to keep his family afloat, lured by his old colleague, Ricky (Kit Harington), into trafficking drugs and guns for a cartel. As Cliff delves deeper, his once straight-laced life turns into a high-stakes game of survival in this gripping thriller hailed as “Breaking Bad meets Fargo” (Variety). Also starring Josh Lucas and Stephen Dorff.
