‘Maestro’ Trailer: Bradley Cooper Directs And Stars With Carey Mulligan In Leonard Bernstein Biopic

Bradley Cooper struck gold with his directorial debut, A Star is Born, earning eight Oscar nominations and one victory. Now he returns with his sophomore effort, Maestro, in which he transforms to become famed composer Leonard Bernstein.

Directed and co-written by Cooper, who also stars as Bernstein, the film centers on the composer’s life with a focus on his rocky 25-year marriage to actress Felicia Montealegre Bernstein, played by Carey Mulligan.

Bernstein is best known for his hit Broadway musical, West Side Story. His marriage to Felicia was complicated by his bisexuality, which he kept hidden for much of his life. The two managed to support one another through the tough times, even as they were judged harshly by the outside world.

The film also stars Matt Bomer, Maya Hawke, Megan Twohey, Sarah Silverman, Josh Hamilton, Scott Ellis, Gideon Glick, Sam Nivola, Alexa Swinton, and Miriam Shor.

Maestro hits select theaters on November 22nd, before moving to Netflix on December 20th.
