‘Based On A True Story’ Trailer: Kaley Cuoco And Chris Messina Are Obsessed With True Crime In Peacock’s New Series

Is it a sign of our messed-up times that we are totally obsessed with true crime? Entire networks are now dedicated to murder, kidnapping, and unsolved mysteries, and that doesn’t even account for the hundreds, perhaps thousands, of podcasts out there. And in some cases, we’ve seen normal people get involved in the solving of these crimes, creating podcasts to document the effort. Sounds like a pretty good idea for a TV series, right? Well, enter Based On a True Story.

Starring Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina, Based On a True Story centers on three people, including a married couple, who exploit a series of murders in their neighborhood by creating a podcast. Makes sense, and kinda feels like Peacock’s attempt at an Only Murders in the Building-sized hit.

The cast also includes Tom Bateman, Priscilla Quintana, Liana Liberato, Natalia Dyer, Alex Alomar Akpobome, Aisha Alfa, Annabelle Dexter-Jones, and Li Jun Li. Craig Rosenberg acts as creator, writer, and showrunner, following his work on The Boys.

Based On a True Story hits Peacock June 8th and runs for eight total episodes.
