‘John Wick’ Director Chad Stahelski Is “Open To” Another Sequel In Due Time

John Wick: Chapter 4 is already well on its way to becoming the biggest film in the franchise. Not only that, but just two weeks into its release and many are already calling it the greatest action movie ever. Whether you agree with that or not, it’s clear that John Wick is more popular than ever. And yet it also might be the final movie, with no clear plans for a fifth.

There’s some good news on that front, however. Director Chad Stahelski spoke with THR and he’s open to a sequel…in due time.

“It’s very flattering for them to come back and, you know, say ‘We want more’ and it’s not just a cash grab. It’s legitimately the audience wants more,” Stahelski said. “I think we all need that little bit of time to go, ‘Whew. Let’s see what’s next.’ … If Keanu and I, a few months from now sit down at a whiskey bar in Japan again and go, ‘Yep, we’ll never do another one of those,’ and then all of a sudden go, ‘Yeah, but I got an idea,’ we’re open to it.”

Stahelski and Keanu Reeves are on the same page on this, and have repeated it over the last few weeks. If there is to be a John Wick 5, fans could be waiting a long time for it. However, the franchise is far from dead. A spinoff, titled Ballerina, is coming up led by Ana de Armas, plus a series centered on The Continental. Producers have also teased potential spinoffs featuring other characters in the John Wick universe.
