Is Jonathan Majors On The Way Out As Kang? Marvel Reportedly Weighing Options Amid Assault Allegations

Just a few weeks ago, we were proclaiming 2023 to be the “year of Jonathan Majors”. The actor was riding high with roles in Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania, Creed III, and Magazine Dreams. Not only that, but his MCU future seemed bright as his role as Kang would also see him in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.

It’s crazy how quickly one’s fortunes can turn around. Last month, Majors was taken into custody by the NYPD following allegations of domestic abuse on a woman. Majors was released from custody shortly thereafter, with his lawyer claiming that he was “completely innocent” and that evidence would prove that. But that evidence, in the form of text messages between the two, hasn’t cleared things up in the least. And now, with Majors’ situation still very murky, rumors are that Marvel is looking to make a change.

A number of sources, including scooper Jeff Sneider, say that Marvel is weighing its options when it comes to Majors. Marvel has met with Majors’ agent to discuss the situation and possible steps going forward, but no decision has been made.

It does seem like Marvel is keeping its distance, though, right?

In other words, recasting Kang isn’t out of the realm of possibility. That would be extremely disappointing. Majors has been on fire, and his future is extremely bright. I could easily see him as a future Oscar winner someday. But if the allegations against him are true, chances are his Marvel career is over, and rightfully so.

Marvel/Disney are likely to wait to see how things shake out before making any rash decisions. But even if charges are dropped against Majors, his reputation may have been harmed to such a degree that letting him go is necessary.

What do you think should be done in this situation? Let us know!
