Jonathan Majors Is Making A Comeback In Action Film From Ben Shapiro’s Daily Wire

Jonathan Majors is attempting a comeback, with his first movie since 2023’s wildly derailed and controversial drama, Magazine Dreams. Deadline reports Majors is currently shooting an untitled action flick produced by Ben Shapiro’s right-wing outlet The Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend. Kyle Rankin directs the film based on his own screenplay.

Details on the film are scarce, but it’s said to be inspired by classic ’80s and ’90s action films such as Red Dawn and Toy Soldiers. It’s worth noting that both of those were about rebellious teens rising up against invading enemy forces.

Rankin directed The Daily Wire’s first foray into movies, 2021’s school shooting thriller Run Hide Fight. He also was co-director on Project Greenlight’s first winning movie, The Battle of Shaker Heights.

Majors’ career was on a roll before it was waylaid in 2023 when he was convicted of reckless assault after an altercation with his girlfriend. At the time, Majors was starring in Creed III, and was the major villain across the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Kang, with roles in Loki, Ant-Man 3, and the upcoming Avengers films. Following the conviction, Marvel fired Majors, and he lost other projects, too. Magazine Dreams, once poised to be a likely Oscar contender, instead got shelved and unceremoniously dumped into limited theaters last year.

As for The Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend, they’ve become a haven for “canceled” actors looking to make comebacks, with Majors joining Gina Carano and Armie Hammer in their ranks.
