Whoa! Looks like the good luck bug has bitten director Trey Edward Shults. According to Deadline, Shults’ latest film has attracted the red-hot trio of Wednesday and Scream star Jenan Ortega, Oscar-nominated The Banshees of Inisherin actor Barry Keoghan, and Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd in his latest acting role.
Shults is best known for his films Krisha, It Comes at Night, and Waves, all critically-acclaimed. Details on this new, untitled project are being kept a secret for now.
One key detail, though, is that Tesfaye also co-wrote the script with Shults. Tesfaye appears to be moving away from his music and into acting more and more lately. He’ll also star in the upcoming HBO series, The Idol.
Whatever this film is, it’s already in production and so we might not have to wait long for it. Maybe by the end of the year?
