Blumhouse has already made a pop culture mark this year with their hit film, M3gan, and hope to score another hit later when David Gordon Green’s The Exorcist opens. But they’re also busy on the small screen, and as part of Blumhouse Television’s deal with MGM+ comes the horror-thriller Unseen, which is a little like Birdbox meets Missing.
Starring Jolene Purdy (Orange is the New Black) and Midori Francis (Afterlife of the Party), the film centers on a gas station clerk who gets a phone call from a nearly-blind woman trying to escape from her ex, who is out to kill her. The clerk will need to be the woman’s eyes, using a cell phone, in order to help her survive.
Also in the cast are Missi Pyle, Michael Patrick Lane, and Ren Hanami. Yoko Okumura (50 States of Fright) makes her feature directorial debut.
Unseen hits Digital and On Demand on March 7th and on MGM+ this May.
SYNOPSIS: Two women form an unlikely connection when a depressed gas station clerk SAM (Purdy), receives a call from EMILY (Francis), a nearly blind woman who is running from her murderous ex in the woods. Emily must survive the ordeal with Sam being her eyes from afar using video call.
