‘Devil’s Peak’ Trailer: Robin Wright Stars With Son Hopper Penn And Billy Bob Thornton In Appalachian Crime Drama

Imagine the pressure being the actor son of Sean Penn and Robin Wright. That’s what’s been heaped on the shoulders of Hopper Penn, who stars alongside his mother in the Appalachian crime drama, Devil’s Peak, which opens later this month.

The film hails from director Ben Young (Hounds of Love) and adapted from David Joy’s 2015 novel Where All Light Tends to Go. Wright and Penn play a mother and son with dreams of escaping the small-town Hell they’re trapped in. When the son meets and falls in love with a local girl, he is forced to confront his violent drug kingpin father, played by Billy Bob Thornton.

Also in a really strong cast are Jackie Earle Haley, Katelyn Nacon, Emma Booth, Brian d’Arcy James, and Harrison Gilbertson.

Devil’s Peak hits theaters on February 17th, followed by digital and VOD on February 24th.

Set in the Appalachian Mountains, Devil’s Peak is a tense thriller about a family dominated by a crime lord (Thornton) who controls his family and his business with his fists. When his son (Penn) meets the girl of his dreams (Katelyn Nacon), desperately wanting to escape the life he is expected to lead and free himself from the clutches of his father, he is forced to go head-to-head with the terrifying man who will stop at nothing to ensure loyalty from all of those around him.
