‘Baby Ruby’ Trailer: Noémie Merlant And Kit Harington Are New Parents Struck By Paranoia

They say that becoming a parent is the most terrifying (and supposedly most rewarding) thing one can ever do. Perhaps that’s true. I’ll probably (hopefully) never know. But it’s probably not meant to be as scary as it turns out to be for the couple in Baby Ruby, a new film that stars Noémie Merlant and Kit Harington.

The film by writer/director Bess Wohl appears to focus largely on Merlant’s character, Jo, a lifestyle guru happily awaiting the birth of her first child. However, once the baby is born, Jo is hit with the extreme fear that something, perhaps everything, is wrong. Wrong with her, wrong with the baby, wrong with their neighbors. Is she right? Or is something more sinister at play here?

Merlant is the Cesar Award-nominated actress who stunned everyone with her performance in Portrait of a Lady On Fire. She was also recently seen opposite Cate Blanchett in Tár. Harington played some guy with a sword on Game of Thrones. Just kidding. He was also in Eternals. As a guy who will eventually have a sword.

Baby Ruby hits theaters and VOD on February 3rd.

BABY RUBY tells the story of Jo, a successful lifestyle entrepreneur who is happily pregnant, awaiting the arrival of her first child. But soon after Jo welcomes baby Ruby home, something starts to feel off– even though she’s assured it’s all perfectly normal. Is something wrong with her? Is something wrong with Ruby? And why are the seemingly perfect neighborhood moms so desperate to befriend her? As Jo fights to protect herself and her baby, she is plunged into a waking fever dream where everyone is a threat and nothing is what it seems. At last, she must confront the truth of her own darkness and contend with the ultimate human sacrifice: The one mothers make for their children.
