‘You People’ Trailer: Jonah Hill Tries To Win Over Eddie Murphy And Nia Long In New Comedy From Kenya Barris

Interracial dating humor! These kinds of comedies can go horribly awry (remember Guess Who?), but there’s reason to have a bit of faith in You People. This is the comedy announced a few years ago that would team up Jonah Hill and black-ish creator Kenya Barris, with Eddie Murphy in one of the acting roles. Well, we’re getting our first look at the film and it looks damn funny.

Hill stars as a Jewish guy who is dating a Black woman, played by Lauren London. Eddie Murphy and Nia Long play her parents, and they have some questions for this young man…

“Do you hang out in the hood all of the time or do you only come up here for our food and women?”

Hilarity ensues when the couple’s very-different families must find a way to get along.

I’m sorry but I laughed throughout the awkward conversation between Hill, Murphy, and Long.

The film is written by Hill and Barris with the latter also directing. Sam Jay, Elliott Gould, Travis Bennett, Molly Gordon, Rhea Perlman, Deon Cole, Andrea Savage, Mike Epps, Emily Arlook, Alani La La Anthony, and Bryan Greenberg co-star.

You People hits Netflix on January 27th 2023.
