James Gunn Shoots Down Total DCU Recasting Rumors

With Henry Cavill being replaced as Superman, rumors of Jason Momoa leaving the Aquaman role, and Wonder Woman 3 being put on the shelf, it’s natural that fans think a complete DCU reboot is in order. But until we hear that from James Gunn and Peter Safran, it’s all just speculation. Fortunately, Gunn isn’t one to let false rumors hang around for long.

Taking to Twitter, Gunn replied to a fan speculating the entire DCU would be recast with new actors.

A bit confusing in the way Gunn worded it, but what I think he’s saying is that changes will be made when they’re necessary to fit the DCU’s direction, and not across the board. As for Suicide Squad and Peacekeeper, those are Gunn’s babies. He’ll probably tinker around with them more than most because he has a personal connection, but even that doesn’t mean wholesale changes are in order. It’s the Suicide Squad. Change is part of the game with them!

One thing for sure, the shake-ups happening right now have fans upset at what the future holds. It’s funny, you never hear more passion for the DCEU than when it’s in turmoil. Well, Gunn has already promised some tough decisions ahead, and that fans won’t be completely happy about them, so might as well hold on tight and see what’s in store.
