‘A Man Called Otto’ Trailer: Tom Hanks Is A Grumpy Old Man Making Some New Friends In Marc Forster’s Latest

The awards season isn’t over until Tom Hanks has had his say on it. Hanks gives off serious “grumpy old man” vibes in the new trailer for A Man Called Otto, the latest film from Finding Neverland director Marc Forster.

Based on Fredrik Backman’s novel A Man Called Ove and the acclaimed 2015 Swedish adaptation, the film stars Hanks as Otto, an angry old man who is ready to kill himself following the death of his wife and loss of his job. But this sad story has a heartwarming side, of course it does for a Hanks film. Otto finds happiness and a new lease on life with the arrival of his friendly next-door neighbors, and apparently also their cat.

Also in the cast are Mariana Treviño, Rachel Keller, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo.  Cameron Britton and Mike Birbiglia. The script is by David Magee, who wrote Finding NeverlandMary Poppins Returns, and Lady Chatterley’s Lover which opens this week. Busy guy.

A Man Called Otto opens in select theaters on Christmas Day, with an expansion on January 13th 2023.
