‘Avatar: The Way Of Water’: James Cameron’s Sequel Clocks In At Over 3 Hours

It’s been a long 13 years since James Cameron’s Avatar broke technological and box office ground. And believe it or not, but there are some who have been anticipating these sequels ever since, even if it seems like the original failed to leave much of a cultural impact. I say to you eager fans itching to return to Pandora that you have nothing to fear. Cameron is going to give you a lot of story for all of that time you’ve been waiting. So much story, he’ll need three hours to tell it.

According to THR, Avatar: The Way of Water will run for 190 whopping minutes. That’s 3 hours and 10 minutes in total. Yep, get that bathroom break in early, and get the jumbo-sized popcorn. For context, Avatar ran for 2 hours and 41 minutes.

Before you start complaining about the length, note that two of the top three films of all-time at the box office ran for over three hours. Those would be Avengers: Endgame (3 hours, 2 minutes), and Cameron’s Titanic (three hours, 14 interminable minutes). However, the #1 movie at the box office, Avatar, was shorter than them both as previously noted.

Avatar: The Way of Water opens December 16th.
