The Transformers franchise was once a multi-billion-dollar cash cow, but fell on hard times towards the end of Michael Bay’s run. However, things recovered in 2018 with the nostalgic Bumblebee, and now Paramount is looking to keep that fading momentum going with Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.
According to director Steven Caple, the latest additions to the Rise of the Beasts cast are Pete Davidson and Michelle Yeoh. Davidson will be voicing the classic Autobot, Mirage, while Yeoh is voicing the Maximal known as Airazor.
Yeoh is obviously having a moment right now, and could find herself in the Oscars race following the success of Everything Everywhere All At Once. Davidson is coming off his performance in the thriller, Bodies Bodies Bodies.
They join a cast that features Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback, Luna Lauren Velez, and Tobe Nwigwe, while the great Peter Cullen returns to voice Optimus Prime and Ron Perlman voices Optimus Primal.
The story picks up where Bumblebee left off, as the Autobots discover a new war led by animal factions the Maximals, Terrorcons, and Predacons.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts opens on June 9th 2023.
