Marvel Delays ‘Blade’ To 2024, Forcing Changes To ‘Fantastic Four’, ‘Deadpool 3’, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’

We know how this works. Whether it’s at DC or at Marvel, when there’s a break in the cinematic universe chain, the whole thing comes undone. In recent weeks, Marvel has been dealing with Blade problems. The long-delayed film just lost its director, Bassam Tariq, mere months ahead of production. Rumors are this has frustrated star Mahershala Ali, as well. It’s about to get worse, because Marvel has announced Blade will move from November 3rd 2023 to September 6th 2024.

That’s a full extra year that fans will have to wait for Blade, which was announced three years ago and has moved slowly ever since. But you might have noticed something. The Septembe 6th 2024 date had just been set aside for Deadpool 3, y’know, the one fans were so excited about with Hugh Jackman. Well, that’s no longer the case. That film will now arrive on November 8th 2024.

You probably see what’s happening. That date belonged to Fantastic Four, which now moves to February 14th 2025, forcing an “untitled” Marvel movie to November 7th 2025.

Here’s where things get even heavier. All of this shuffling has forced Avengers: The Kang Dynasty Avengers: Secret Wars much further apart. Once so close together they appeared to be one complete story, now the two films are separated by a full year. The Kang Dynasty is opening on May 2nd 2025, followed by Secret Wars which is now all the way at May 1st 2026.

All of these changes could force Marvel to recalibrate the Phases and where they begin and end. It could also give Destin Daniel Cretton enough time to direct both Avengers films, or perhaps enough time for Ryan Coogler to take on one of them.
