Jared Leto To Play Fashion Legend Karl Lagerfield In New Biopic

Jared Leto has landed on his next role which will surely produce a divisive performance. Deadline reports Leto will play Chanel fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld in an upcoming biopic.

The film will also be produced by Leto, who will be joined by people who were very close to Lagerfield himself. Lagerfield CEO Pier Paolo Righi, adviser Caroline Lebar, and Lagerfield’s personal assistant Sébastien Jondeau are aboard as exec-producers, undoubtedly providing the kind of inside info that films like this thrive on.

“Karl has always been an inspiration to me,” Leto said in a press statement. “He was a true polymath, an artist, an innovator, a leader and, most importantly, a kind man. When we came together with the Karl Lagerfeld team, we immediately shared a creative vision of doing a respectful ode to Karl while pushing the artistic boundaries of what a biopic can be. I’m so grateful to Karo, Pier and Seb for allowing us to go on this journey together.”

This one is still pretty early on as no writer or director has been announced. Expect that to change soon with Leto attached.
