‘Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes’ Adds ‘The Witcher’ Star Freya Allen, Production Begins Next Month

Things are moving quickly with 20th Century Studios’ new chapter in the Planet of the Apes franchise. Wes Ball has long been attached to direct, and just weeks ago we learned Owen Teague would take the lead role. Now, with the news that production will begin next month, also comes word that The Witcher star Freya Allen has joined the cast. Oh, and the film has a new title and first-look art.

Allen is the latest to join the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes cast, playing the leading human role, with Teague as the chief ape. Along for the ride is The Orville actor Peter Macon, known for wearing heavy make-up for the role of Lt. Commander Bortus on the hit series. So he should be right at home in a film where he might get called upon to play one of the many primates. Allen is best known for her role as Princess Cirilla of Cintra on Netflix’s hit, The Witcher.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has  a script by Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Patrick Aison, and will open sometime in 2024.
