Casting has begun to round into shape for Todd Phillips’ anticipated musical sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux. And with Joaquin Phoenix, Lady Gaga, Zazie Beetz, Catherine Keener, and Brendan Gleeson already aboard, Jacob Lofland has joined in on the fun.
THR has the news on Lofland joining the Joker sequel. Of course, his role remains shrouded in mystery like most of the others. We don’t know if it’ll be a significant part or a minor one, but Lofland is really good actor who broke out opposite Matthew McConaughey in Mud. He’s since gone on to appear in two Maze Runner films, the sports drama 12 Mighty Orphans, and horror A House On the Bayou.
Details on the plot are that it will take place partially inside the walls of Arkham Asylum, which is likely where Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck first encounters Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn. In the comics, she started out as Joker’s psychiatrist before following him down a path of madness. The same could happen here.
Joker: Folie à Deux opens October 4th 2024.
