D23: Matt Shakman To Direct MCU’s ‘Fantastic Four’

We knew this was coming but Kevin Feige’s announcement at D23 made it official. Matt Shakman will direct the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s reboot of Fantastic Four.

Shakman had been in talks with the studio to take over for MCU Spider-Man: Home trilogy director Jon Watts who left the reboot to pursue other projects. Fans will know Shakman from 2020’s genre-bending beloved show WandaVision. This maybe a good thing as the Fantastic Four property has not been critically acclaimed in its past attempts on the big screen.

Fans were hoping Marvel would announce the cast of the project but it looks like they will have to wait another for another day. Fantastic Four is due to be released November 8, 2024.
