‘Avatar’ To Get Stunning 4K Theatrical Re-Release Next Month

James Cameron is always looking for a new excuse to re-release Avatar. The 2009 film is currently the highest-grossing movie of all-time, although it was helped by a 2019 re-release when Avengers: Endgame briefly took the crown. Now, with the Avatar sequels finally set to arrive, Cameron is bringing the original trip to Pandora back into theaters again.

20th Century Studios will bring Avatar back into theaters beginning September 23rd. To coincide with the announcement, they’ve also debuted a new trailer which proves that this won’t be like any other Avatar re-release. Why? Because it’ll look even more stunning in 4K.

It’s been 13 years since the groundbreaking Avatar release, and honestly, the film hasn’t kept up much buzz. But that has changed since the first teasers for Avatar: The Way of Water, and this might be a sneaky smart move as audiences look to get caught up with the story in preparation.
