The San Diego Comic-Con panel for Paramount’s Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves only just concluded, featuring directors Jonathan M. Goldstein and John Francis Daley. Also there were stars Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Sophia Lillis, and Hugh Grant in his first ever Comic-Con appearance. After introducing a couple of clips from the anticipated swords ‘n sorcery fantasy epic, they concluded the show with the first trailer, as well. And now it’s been made available online.
Fans of the popular adventure game, with a fandom supercharged by the most recent season of Stranger Things, have a pretty good idea what to expect. A band of outsiders of various classes comes together to defeat a greater evil. The only difference this time is that everyone in this group is a thief, so trust is hard to come by.
One thing I noted while I was in Hall H is the movie doesn’t look like a wannabe Lord of the Rings knockoff. The humor is definitely there in spades, and the action moves at a faster pace. But we should expect nothing different from the writers of Horrible Bosses and Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves opens March 3rd 2023.
