Yoda To Teach The Younglings In ‘Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures’ Animated Series

Star Wars Celebration has been a busy time for Lucasfilm, but also a fruitful one if you’re a fan of the galaxy far far away. There have been announcements suited to just about every group of fan out there, and while Jon Watts has a new series geared towards younger audiences, another will be following suit. Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures is an animated series coming to Disney+ and Disney Jr. in 2023 that is geared towards preschool and early grade school fans.

Similar to Leslye Headland’s The Acolyte series, Young Jedi Adventures will take us thousands of years back into the High Republic era, where a group of Younglings study to learn the ways of the Force, how to become a Jedi Knight, and to stay on the Light side of the Force.

Factoring heavily into the series is Yoda, the fan-favorite Jedi acting as a mentor to the Younglings. Showrunner Michael Olson had this to say about Yoda’s place in the show…

“This show centers on a group of Younglings who, their entire life, they’ve grown up in the Jedi temple on Coruscant. And Master Yoda realizes that it’s time for them to get some real life experience out in the field, putting their Jedi lessons into practice. So he sends them into different outpost temples in the Outer Rim, and together, they go on adventures saving the day and helping other people.”

The High Republic era is generally a peaceful time for the Jedi. They are still at war with the Sith, but the Dark Side has yet to take hold the way it has in later periods.

If I’m being perfectly honest, Star Wars shows geared towards kids are of no interest for me, and I think it waters down the product. But we shall see. Maybe it’ll be great.
